O presente trabalho tem como objetivo refletir acerca da tradução das referências culturais do seriado de televisão norte-americano Gilmore Girls a partir da análise da legenda e dublagem de alguns de seus episódios.
Por meio do estudo do referido corpus e da aplicação de modalidades tradutórias propostas por Vinay e Darbelnet e outros teóricos, o intuito é observar a questão de perda ou conservação de elementos culturalmente marcados no momento em que a tradução audiovisual é feita, e verificar as modalidades que mais se destacam nesse processo.
Tendo em vista o rigoroso processo pelo qual o tradutor para o meio audiovisual passa a fim de realizar seu papel da melhor forma possível, o presente trabalho visa, também, apontar as características da tradução para cada uma das vertentes em questão.
The aim of this paper is to reflect about the translation of the cultural references from North American television series Gilmore Girls based on the analysis of the subtitles and dubbing in some of its episodes.
By studying the mentioned corpus and applying translation procedures conceived by Vinay and Darbelnet and other theorists, the objective is to observe the loss or conservation of culturally marked elements at the moment the audiovisual translation is being rendered, and verify the modalities that stand out in this process.
Considering the strict process the audiovisual translator goes through in order to perform his/her role the best possible way, this paper also aims at indicating the suitable characteristics to each type of audiovisual translation discussed here.
